Messages can be used to communicate important information to Users. We’re extending Learner communication capabilities available to Admins by adding two new Message Templates:
- Due Date Nudge (up to five messages).
- Recurring Overdue Nudge.
These features are primarily intended to improve completion rates for Mandatory Courses. They provide Admins with extended flexibility to customize the frequency and urgency of communication sent out to Learners, based on the time left for Course completion set via the Course Due Date.
Furthermore, these Messages can also be used to remind Users on completing any Courses that have a Due Date set, making it great tool to point Learners towards completion of non-mandatory Courses that are particularly valuable.
Due Date Nudge
Due Date Nudges remind Learners to complete a Course on time by sending a series of emails with varying messages as the Due Date approaches.
Setting Up Due Date Nudges
A Course must have a Due Date set, either a specific date or in relation to time from enrollment. Due Date is set in the Availability section of Course configuration.
- Access the Admin Experience.
- Navigate to the Courses Report.
- Select a Course and click Edit. You can also create a new Online Course.
- Scroll to the Messages section of Course configuration.
- Enable Send due date nudge email to expand each Nudge settings.
Here is an example of using Nudge emails:
- Admin creates 5 Due Date Nudge emails.
- Defines that Due Date Nudge emails will be sent respectively 14, 7, 5, 2 and 1 day before the Course Due Date.
Each Nudge can use either the Default Template or use a Custom Template that is defined at the Course configuration level and will be applied only for this specific Course. Admins may choose to make the messaging become more persuasive and escalatory as the Due Date approaches.
Due Date Nudge Message Template
There’s a new type of Template variable called {{TimeLeft}}, which displays the time left that a Learner has to complete the Course.
Default Message Templates can be found in the Message Templates Report. These Templates can be customized to use a unified and system-wide Due Date Nudges communication. There is also a toggle that, when enabled, sends a copy of Due Date Nudge to the Learner's Manager.
Recurring Overdue Nudge
This Message is intended for Learners who have not completed a Course on time, as specified by the Course Due Date.
It’s in the same section where other Course related Messages are enabled.
For each Overdue Nudge, an Admin can set the cadence on when the Message will be sent to the Learner, e.g. every 2 days after the Due Date. Learner communication will be sent until they complete the Course, up until 6 months.
Recurring Overdue Nudge Message Template
Contents of the Nudge can be customized for each Course, but there is also a global Template available.
And additional toggle allows you to send a copy of the Overdue Message to the Learner's Manager when enabled.
