Groups are commonly used to customize and automate Course Enrollments and Learner messaging. It may be the case that Learners are not automatically enrolled in the Course they should take or do not receive marketing messaging, simply because they don't belong to the required Group. This may happen when Group Assignment Rules haven’t been triggered or the Learner has not been added manually to the Group.
The Users Report provides you with the ability to easily find 'orphaned' Users and reduce time needed to resolve problems using the “# of Groups” column in the report.
This article demonstrates how to find users through the Users Report.
Finding Users that Don't Belong to a Group

Navigate to the Users Report.

Select the Display Columns button.

Select “# of Groups” column.

Click on “# of Groups” Filter button at the top of the column or use the Add Filter option.
or -
Set the filtering values to show only users for which '# of Groups' equals 0.

An updated Users Report will display only the 'orphaned' Users.
Filtering Users Not in a Group
By applying additional Filters, you will be able to refine the information displayed on the Users Report to find specific Users. The Users may be encountering enrollment, messaging or similar issues because of their lack of Group membership. From this point of view it is easier to discover which Users may not have been assigned to a Group as intended.
