The News category in the Help Center provides information, notices, and alerts about changes impacting the LMS. You can follow specific sections or articles to be informed of additional updates. In this article we will provide an overview of each section, and some caveats to be aware of when subscribing to articles or sections.
News Sections
There are five sections in the News category. These are described below:
Client Alerts
This section is used to communicate high-priority updates that may significantly impact a client's experience with SkillSync LMS or our microservices. It is intended for rare but important posts, such as system interruptions, urgent action items requiring client response, and hotfix releases. Clients who follow this section receive email alerts when time-sensitive or critical information is published.
Scheduled Maintenance
This section is used to communicate general notifications about scheduled maintenance and routine system updates. It includes information on upcoming release deployments, monthly server patching, and updates to microservices or add-ons that may result in short service interruptions. Clients who follow this section receive advance notice of planned changes that help ensure transparency and preparedness around ongoing system maintenance.
Release Notes: What’s New
This section is used to share detailed information about new features and functionality in SkillSync LMS. It includes major release notes and updates from smaller, off-cadence feature deployments. The content is focused on what’s new and client-facing. Clients who follow this section receive notifications about the latest enhancements and product additions as they are released.
Change Logs
This section is used to document versioned changes to specific SkillSync components and microservices. Each article is date-stamped and includes update details relevant to individual services or add-ons. Clients are encouraged to follow the components they use to receive targeted updates about functionality changes, improvements, or releases that impact their configuration.
Product Roadmap
This section provides clients with visibility into our future development priorities. It includes high-level insights into the Product Roadmap, outlining key focus areas and upcoming features. While updates here are infrequent, they help set expectations around what's planned and what direction SkillSync LMS is heading.
Following a Section or Article
You can follow either an individual section or article for future updates. At the section level, you can choose to follow either new articles, or new articles and comments, which will include new comments on existing articles. In an article, you can follow the article for comment notifications. We'll go over how to follow both a section and an article below.
How to Follow a Section
You can follow sections in the Help Center to receive updates when either new articles are published or new comments are posted to articles. Note that this will not notify you of content updates to existing articles within the section. To follow a section, follow the steps below:
- Open a section in the Help Center. For this example, we'll open the Courses section.
- On the right side of the page, click the Follow button.
- In the drop-down, select either New articles or New articles and comments.
The Follow button will change to Following after you select an option:
You can click the button again to change your selection or Unfollow the section.
How to Follow an Article
You can also follow individual articles to receive updates when new comments are added. Note that this will not notify you of new content updates to the article.
To follow an article, follow the steps below:
- Open an article in the Help Center.
- Click on the Follow button below the right-hand side of the article title.
Once clicked, the button will change to Unfollow:
You can click the button again to Unfollow the article.
